As of Wednesday morning, the novel coronavirus has infected more than 3,207,248 people across 185 countries and territories, resulting in over 227,971 deaths. In the U.S., all 50 states plus the District of Columbia have reported confirmed cases of COVID-19, tallying over 1,040,488 illnesses and at least 58,355 deaths.

Here’s a look at the 10 states with the most cases: 

1. New York: 299,691 cases

2. New Jersey: 116,365 cases

3. Massachusetts: 60,265 cases

4. Illinois: 50,358 cases

5. California: 48,829 cases

6. Pennsylvania: 46,458 cases

7. Michigan: 40,399 cases

8. Florida: 33,193 cases

9. Louisiana: 27,660 cases

10. Texas: 27,390 cases

Here’s a look at the top 10 states with the most deaths: 

1. New York: 23,477 deaths

2. New Jersey: 6,771 deaths

3. Michigan: 3,670 deaths

4. Massachusetts: 3,405 deaths

5. Pennsylvania: 2,386 deaths

6. Illinois: 2,215 deaths

7. Connecticut: 2,168 deaths

8. California: 1,956 deaths

9. Louisiana: 1,845 deaths

10. Florida: 1,218 deaths
