The stage at Sanya, China is all set to host the 68th edition of the Miss World pageant. The grand finale of Miss World 2018 will take place on December 8, and we can’t contain our excitement. Beautiful ladies from 32 countries around the world are competing against each other for the coveted Miss World title. Last year’s winner Manushi Chhillar will crown her successor at the end of the pageant. India first won the Miss World title in 1966 when Reita Faria Powell brought home the crown. And since then, there has been no looking back for the beauties; the nation so far won the crown six times with Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar being the recent achiever. Miss World 1966 Reita Faria Powell

Reita Faria Powell’s glorious win made her the first Indian woman ever to be crowned Miss World. The competition took place at the Lyceum Theater, United Kingdom, where she also became the first Miss World winner to qualify as a doctor. During the contest, she won the sub-titles ‘Best in Swimsuit’ and also ‘Best in Eveningwear’ for wearing a saree. She now lives in Dublin, Ireland, and was also invited as a judge at Femina Miss India in 1988.

Miss World 1994 Aishwarya Rai

After a long time, at the 44th edition of the Miss World competition, India won the prestigious title for the second time. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the epitome of beauty and elegance who impressed the judges and became one of the most influential figures globally. Miss World 1997 Diana Hayden

India won the Miss World title for the third time in 1997 when Diana Hayden was crowned at the Plantation Club, Seychelles. She is also the only Miss World titleholder to win three subtitles during the competition—Continental Queen of Asia and Oceania, Miss Photogenic and Spectacular Swimwear.

Miss World 1999 Yukta Mookhey

During the 49th edition of the Miss World pageant, Yukta Mookhey brought the coveted crown home making India win the title for the fourth time. Mookhey also won the title, Continental Queen of Asia and Oceania during the contest.

Miss World 2000 Priyanka Chopra

The year 1999-2000 was a proud period for India as the nation won the Miss World title third time back to back. A total of 95 contestants had participated that year, but it was the Indian beauty Priyanka Chopra, who only at the age of 18, stood confidently wearing the crown. The former Miss World and actress with her dedication and hard work has today become one of the most talked about ladies in Hollywood.

Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar

Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar is now set to pass on her legacy and her prestigious crown to her successor. The diva who is currently spending her days with the beautiful Miss World 2018 contestants became the sixth Indian to won the prestigious title. During the contest, Chhillar became a semi-finalist in the Top Model, People’s Choice and Multimedia competitions and was the winner of the Head-to-Head Challenge from Group Nine and co-winner of the Beauty with a Purpose competition.

The Miss World beauty pageant is one of the most keenly awaited and widely watched event all over the world.
