Dumb excuses Victorians continue to use

By | October 13, 2020

Police have shelled out 64 fines to Victorians breaching COVID-19 restrictions over the past 24 hours.

Victoria Police reported multiple examples overnight of people caught in vehicles more than 5km from home because they were “just out for a drive”.

Three men from different addresses were also fined after being nabbed travelling in a car together in the Monash area, telling officers they’d visited a friend’s house to watch a movie. None was wearing a mask.

Fourteen people were fined for failing to wear a mask, while 17 were caught at vehicle checkpoints for breaching the chief health officer’s directions.

Police did 1831 spot checks on people at homes, businesses and public places across the state, bringing to 494,674 the number of spot checks conducted since March 21.
