Miami’s Wynwood Walls — which are celebrating their 10th birthday this year — wouldn’t be an Instagram hot spot with bona fide artistic chops without Jessica Goldman Srebnick.
As CEO of Goldman Properties, which owns the outdoor art park and much of the trendy neighborhood, she commissions and curates the Walls’ murals.
Here are her favorite things to do in the Magic City during the off-season.
Do: “Find a slice of beach anywhere in Miami Beach and take a long walk. You can watch the kitesurfers. For me, it’s like a mini-vacation. There’s something about the breeze and the ocean and the big sky — and for me, that’s off the beaten path. I live closer to the Fontainebleau and Faena area, but also the other area I find beautiful to go enjoy is South Pointe Park, at the southern tip of Miami Beach. Then you can walk up the beach as far as you want to go — and you can go for miles.
We also have the Frost Museum of Science, which is a new facility. We have the Perez Art Museum of Miami, which is just an architecturally beautiful space. I was at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the presidential debate; it has really incredible programming, whether it’s theater or dance or music.”
Eat: “I have a favorite smoothie, called the “Addicted Smoothie,” from Dreamer in Miami Beach. I love vegan ice cream from Dasher & Crank, which is a really wonderful ice cream place in Wynwood.
We [Goldman Properties] have two restaurants: Wynwood Kitchen & Bar, always a favorite for me, and Joey’s. I’m a huge fan of David Grutman’s restaurants. He has a new restaurant called Swan, which is really beautiful. The food is outstanding and the design is outstanding. His [Asian-fusion spot] is Komodo. NaiYaRa on Miami Beach is a Thai-Japanese fusion. We love it there. Chef Bee is an absolute artist when it comes to food. Then you’ve got the old classics: Prime 112, Milos. Milos is outstanding.”
See: “You can come to the Wynwood Walls and see some of the greatest street art in the world for free. You can take a photograph with a Tristan Eaton mural or a Martin Whatson mural, and you have representation from all over the world. Vhils, who is an artist from Portugal, used a jackhammer to make carve-outs on the sides of one of our buildings. They’re all really beautiful. Hopefully you’ll go away feeling a little more inspired, and a little more joyous.”
“The Goldman Global Arts gallery has a beautiful exhibit of a Brazilian artist named Kobra. It’s super, super colorful and very vibrant. This is the first time he’s selling artwork on canvas. The show sold out in four days! It’s almost like going to a museum, but we give you the ability to see it for free. It’s continuing until October with new inventory.”
Shop: “Walt Grace has antique cars and antique guitars. It’s just a really cool, very different, very Wynwood type of retailer. There is a wonderful store called Glottman; it’s home goods with a real artistic twist to them. One of my kid’s’ favorite stores, DJI, is a drone store. The best thing about Wynwood is just to walk around and explore.

Stay: “For a small boutique Art Deco hotel in the heart of the Art Deco district, come stay with us at The Hotel of South Beach. For a bigger more resort-type feel, I would say the 1 Hotel. The rooms are just zen and beautiful.”
